Boy in Blue!

Sydney Communion Lolly Buffet - at Conca D'oro, Riverwood, Sydney.

I love caramel tones (the colour as well as the sweets it encompasses) so was very excited to be contacted by Alicia for her son's First Holy Communion celebrations.  We mixed some old favourites - milk bottles, milky buds, caramel popcorn and jersey caramels with some more modern tastes - mini jelly beans in vanilla and blueberry, sour straps and some blue raspberry clouds packaged into guest size portions with personalised labels. All signage and the personalised labels on each of the guest's boxes were designed around the invitations Alicia had organised and looked fabulous on the table. Alec had a wonderful first holy communion shared with family and friends over a lolly buffet - sounds good :)

Here is what they had to say afterwards:
I just want to say a huge thank you to Niky for creating an amazing lolly buffet for our son's holy communion. All our guests loved it and could not stop raving about it. Nothing was a problem for Niky, her suggestions and professionalism was fantastic. We will remember to book you in for our next event. Thanks for everything Niky.

Classically White!

Sydney Wedding Candy Buffet - at The Dunes, Palm Beach, Sydney.

Jessica and Ian are a couple residing in France who contacted us to help make their beachside wedding sweet and memorable.  Jess's taste was exceptional and her monochromatic white-on-white theme a fabulous one to work with.  We designed a tiered lolly buffet featuring lovely sweets including french nougat, bon bons, turkish delight, white chocolate foil covered hearts, raspberry bullets (just to name a few) all centred around a bird's cage filled with delicate white rose buds.

We added some little extras like ferrero raffaelos, macarons, mini cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, hand decorated cookies (by the oh-so-talented Karyn Patching of Sweet n' Pretty), cream and white swirl rock candy lollipops and a rustic pile of cadbury dream chocolate blocks.  The gorgeous little brown paper bags stamped with Sweet Treats (by Pulp Creative Paper) inspired the linen and white striped table cloth and tied the theme together.

I cannot wait to see some of the professional photos of this wedding as they are sure to amaze!

Romance at The Rocks!

Sydney Wedding Candy Buffet - at The Italian Village, The Rocks, Sydney.

Claudia and Brett are the most delightful couple with a devine vision for their vintage inspired wedding.  The Italian Village was the ideal location for their reception with it's rustic feel and sandstone surrounds.  Their gorgeous floral arrangements, simple decor and soft pink, caramel and cream tones created an element of romance and charm.  Their candy buffet / lolly buffet was filled with strawberry bon bons, coconut ice, strawberry chews, pink sugared almonds, milk bottles, white choc buds, raspberry bullets, vanilla fudge, jersey caramels, peanut brittle, maltesers and some hand made soft pink and white swirl heart rock candy pops.

Here is part of what they had to say:
Can I just say... you are a MAGICIAN!!  OMG the buffet looked AMAZING, STUNNING, FABULOUS, ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!

It was a MASSIVE hit and everyone went bezerk over it and couldn't stop commenting on how they've been to other weddings with buffets, but that this one was BY FAR the BEST they've ever seen.  Again, thank you so much for everything. Couldn't have had for a better day and i was surprisingly not even nervous :)  You made the evening a hit, you are the BEST!!  Will talk again soon i am sure.

Love Claudia xx

Happy 60th Dennis!

Sydney Birthday Lolly Buffet - at The King's School, Parramatta.

Kerry approached SugarCube to create a candy buffet for her husband's surprise 60th birthday.  The brief was simple - bright and colourful with blue linen.  We nestled the lolly buffet in amongst the sports memorabilia display cabinets and this is what we got ....

A Splash of Colour!

Sydney Wedding Lolly Buffet - at Dockside, Cockle Bay.

Claire and Chris were wanting their lolly buffet to be a colourful and fun addition to their chic black and white wedding.  Once the centrepiece sweet was chosen (8kg of skittles!!) and a few of their favourites added (sour worms, swizlers and jelly beans) we managed to build a fun display for their guests to feast on. The linens were kept simple and white and the bomboniere boxes were personalised with well wishes from the bride and groom for each guest.

What a sweet start to married life!

Adding a Little Sunshine!

Sydney Wedding Lolly Buffet - at The Sebel, Pier One.

Yellow seems to be the colour of the season as we have just completed our second wedding lolly buffet in this colour theme in just 2 weeks.  And i must say, it is growing on me - yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment and happiness which makes it the perfect accompaniment to any wedding celebration.  Josh and Andrea chose simple flowers and pale yellow chair sashes to continue the colour throughout the gorgeous room at the Sebel, Pier One, in Sydney.  Surrounded with views of the stunning harbour in one direction and Luna Park in the other, Josh and Andrea celebrated with family and friends well into the night.

Wishing you both the absolute best!

Emma and Jason's Wedding!

Wedding Lolly Buffet - at Belgenny Farm, Camden.

I was so excited yesterday when an email arrived from one of our past brides who sent us some pics of her lovely lolly buffet we set up for her and her fiance in 2010.  Emma and Jason were having a purple, black and white theme for their reception at the secluded and rustic Belgenny Farm.  I love seeing photos of the lolly buffets in action - and it looks like this one was well received by the guests!  Thank you Emma for taking the time to send though the photos and i wish you and Jason a happy arrival for your bub in the next few weeks ....

SugarCube in Rewind - Jean-Marc and Sarah.

Wedding Lolly Buffet - Guillaume at Bennelong, The Sydney Opera House.

Sarah and Jean-Marc live in the UAE and organised their amazing wedding in October 2010 from there.  As you can see in the gorgeous photos by the very talented McKay Photography, this wedding was truly spectacular.  From the couture designer gown that Sarah wore (made by Jean-Marc's mother and Aunty) through to the fireworks over Sydney Harbour as they cut the cake and pile of thongs available for guests who had "tired feet", this couple thought of everything.

Personal touches were abundant and made this wedding a wonderful celebration of a new life.  The couple merged the London and Sydney skylines to produce an image that would become their signature for the day.  The image was present in their invites and repeated in the table settings.  We continued the same theme and included the skylines in the label we designed for the bomboniere boxes each of their guests would use at the lolly bar.

The lolly buffet was lilac and white and designed around a display of purple and white blooms.  Sarah's thoughtfullness and sense of humour was obvious in her careful selection of sweets and emphasised by her request for protein bars to be added into the lolly buffet design.  After much searching we were thrilled to source some purple protein bars that complimented the theme perfectly.  We even included a cheeky little sign for her 'exercise-savvy' fiance.

It is a joy to re-live such a fabulous wedding in the following photos.  Hope you enjoy them too!

Just Loving Sunshine Yellow!

Sydney Wedding Lolly Buffet - at Centennial Parklands Dining.

Angela and Warwick had clean and simple ideas of yellow and white for their gorgeous wedding.  Alicia from 'Form over Function' created an amazing space within the walls of Centennial Parklands Dining combining sweet smelling frescias and large white ornate mirrors with stunning yellow and white lamps.  The lolly buffet / candy buffet was positioned with the bar and floor to ceiling wine wall as a backdrop.  Sweets included lemon sherbets, allens bananas, pineapple clouds, yellow and white jelly beans, lemon bon bons, cadbury dream chocolate frogs, white chocolate foil covered hearts, toffee bon bons and a centrepiece of turkish delight.

Heidi and Shannon's Wedding!

Wedding Lolly Buffet - at Watersedge, Pier One.

Just wanted to share a few pics of the buffet we just finished setting up.  As i write this the gorgeous couple this buffet was designed for are saying their "I-DOs" - how exciting!  Purple rock candy pops, skittles, chocolate hearts, cadbury dream freddos and mini jelly beans are just a few of the sweets they will be indulging in later tonight.  Wishing them a fabulous night with their family and friends ...

Sonia Turns 30!

Sydney Birthday Lolly Buffet - at Monkey Bar, Balmain.

We created this cute "Pink Lemonade" lolly buffet for Sonia's 30th birthday party.  We used pink, yellow and white sweets on a background of white lace table linen and dusky pink rises.  I adore the lattice wall that lines this function room - makes for a fabulous backdrop!

Tracie and Daniel's Big Day!

Sydney Wedding Lolly Buffet - Reception at Sydney Motor Yacht Club, Rose Bay.

It is always so lovely to see pictures of our couples on their special day.  Tracie and Daniel were lovely to work with and had a definite chic style about them.  It was their desire for black lace and chocolate sweets that inspired us to create their Caramel Lace Lolly Buffet.  Tracie looked amazing as you can see (adore her blue shoes) and i wish them both the very best for the future.

Here is what they had to say:

Wow, wow, wow! We cannot thank you enough for the work you put into the beautiful lolly buffet at our wedding. It was so much more amazing than we ever imagined. The buffet fitted perfectly with our theme and decor, and we loved the label you designed for the boxes so much that we used it on our cake too!

You took our vision and made it into a reality. Your attention to detail and willingness to add those little extras (my Dad LOVED his own special jars) was greatly appreciated and made it that much more special... I’m telling everyone I know who is planning an event to go and see “The Lolly Lady”!

Thank you to Tracie and Daniel for the photos.

The Popularity of Purple

Could purple be the new black?

I am not sure that black can ever be replaced but it seems as though brides are moving away from this timeless elegance and towards more purple hues this year.  We have had many requests for lolly buffets in all shades of purple - from lavender through to deep plum.  Check out the "Lavender and Cream" and "Black Grape" buffets in our gallery.
